It’s a clich but its true. There are no permanent friendships in Bollywood. So which is the latest friendship that has taken a hit?
Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap. Yes, two of the biggest filmmakers of Bollywood seem to have had a fallout.
The foes-turned-friends were practically BFFs over the last two years. All each one could talk about was how awesome the other was.
When Anurag brought up the idea of Karan acting in Bombay Velvet, KJo instantly agreed. He must have wondered what could be better than starring in an Anurag Kashyap film (wrong decision, that!)
And then, we all know what happened when the film hit the theatres.
While Karan had actively promoted the movie and displayed solidarity when there was negative buzz around the film, he went completely mum after the release. We heard, he has been avoiding Anurag ever since the movie turned out to be a washout.
A source reveals, “Anurag is upset as he has been calling Karan, but he has not been taking the call post the release of Bombay Velvet.”
In fact, at the trailer launch of Brothers yesterday, Akshay Kumar even took a dig at KJo, saying that he is wearing velvet after the failure of Bombay Velvet. The filmmaker retorted, Jale pe namak mat ragdo.
Clearly, Karan is upset over the Bombay Velvet debacle. Maybe thats why he is maintaining a distance from Anurag.
Poor Anurag! As if suffering a 90-crore loss wasnt bad enough, now he has lost a friend too.
